Philosophy paper: Joseph Carens argues that in an ideal world there would be open borders, but in a world with border control there should be amnesty. Critically assess both aspects of Carens’ view.

Topic: Philosophy paper: Joseph Carens argues that in an ideal world there would be open borders, but in a world with border control there should be amnesty. Critically assess both aspects of Carens’ view.

Please only make the analysis / critical thinking part of the essay (I don’t need summary/intro paragraph or conclusion on this paper please).

Please refer to the attached Carens Reading.pdf file (Yes, it only has 22 pages, from pg 251-273) and this bostonreview reading link( http://bostonreview.net/forum/case-amnesty-joseph-carens) when doing the essay as they’re my reading material for this Carens’s “The Case for Open Border” and Caren’s “The case for Amnesty” topic in the class.

I think the first reading mainly argues open borders from three perspectives: Nozickean (roughly, the libertarian/natural rights perspective), Rawlsian (roughly, the egalitarian perspective), and utilitarian. And the professor does not require me to get quotes from the reading, so maybe put only around 1 or 2 if you want, or dont put at all is fine too!

Also, this paper is supposed to be a 2nd paper of a lower division philosophy class, in fact this class is first philosophy course for most students. So far besides of Caren’s open border and amnesty topic, we already discussed Nozickean Distributive Justice, Rawlsian Theory of Justice, Dworkin Equality of Resources theory and Kymlica’s Equality for minority culture. So please do not make the paper’s content out of the topics that has not been covered in the class yet.
