Lifespan Early Development

Please Read Carefully, and writer needs to be able to provide recent research articles.

Part 1: Annotated Bibliography
Create an annotated bibliography of source materials that contribute to understanding the major influences on early development. Include a minimum of 15 sources across the following areas:

Prenatal development.
Hereditary disorders.
Environmental factors (teratogens, maternal nutrition, stress).
Infant development.
Attachment.

Part 2: Influences on Early Development
Based on the sources identified in your annotated bibliography, write a 4–6-page paper, comprising three sections, that clearly addresses the influences of the following in the emotional development of an infant:

Hereditary disorders.
Environmental factors.
The significance of attachment.
Complete all of the following steps to address all requirements for the three sections of your paper. Synthesize theory and research and consider the implications for subsequent developmental outcomes.

Step 1: Hereditary Disorders
Locate at least one journal article on one of the following hereditary disorders:
Recessive, Defective Allele Disorders:
Sickle cell anemia.
Dominant, Defective Allele Disorders:
Progeria.
Huntington’s chorea.
Polygenic Disorders:
Muscular dystrophy.
Chromosomal Abnormalities:
Down syndrome.
Sex-Linked Disorders:
X-linked recessive disorders.
Fragile X syndrome.
Using the journal article and any other applicable resources from your bibliography, describe the disorder you have chosen to examine.
Based on your research of the disorder and your knowledge of the nature versus nurture controversy, evaluate the possible benefits, limitations, and ethical concerns of genetic counseling from the perspective of someone in the helping professions, with a focus on your specialization or area of professional interest.
Step 2: Environmental Factors
Determine the influence of the following environmental factors on prenatal development, including early brain development:
Teratogens. What are the potential effects of medications, chemicals, and infections?
Maternal nutrition. How does the mother’s diet affect the fetus?
Stress. How do stress hormones affect an infant’s neuroendocrine system?
Assess the applicability of environmental influences to later developmental concerns that emerge in professional practice.
Based on your interpretation and assessment of the research, what advice could you provide a pregnant teenager to help her ensure the health of her baby? Support your advice with references.
Step 3: Attachment
Provide a basic introduction to attachment theory and research identified in your annotated bibliography.
Assess the importance of key theoretical and research concepts linked to attachment.
Provide an overview of Erikson’s theory, with respect to the development of trust.
What is the link between Erikson’s theory and attachment?
Evaluate the role of attachment in the emotional development of an infant. Consider the influences of caregiving and parenting styles, as well as cultural differences that are reflected in theory and research.
If attachment quality can change over time as caretaking quality changes, what is the significance of infants’ attachments to their caregivers?
Analyze the role of culture in the development of attachments.
Assess the applicability of attachment theory and research to later developmental concerns that emerge in professional practice.
