You will read the assigned article on Self-Determination and Self-Actualization (located in the Module for the week this assignment is due), though it is not necessary that you fully understand every detail of this (it is written at a relatively high level for an advanced academic audience). Then, you will summarize it and find another article related to self-actualization (my advice is to use the PsycINFO database to find one). This self-chosen article can give you a little more to talk about and cite so that you can add your own thoughtful insights on the subject of self-actualization and/or self-determination. Finally, try to think of a specific application of your knowledge in this area. How would your understanding lead you to different actions or methods to motivate yourself, peers in a work group, employees you might manage, children you might teach or supervise, etc.

Expected length: Title page, plus 2-3 double-spaced pages that include the article references in APA format. Information about APA formatting can be found on the Purdue OWL (online writing lab– link posted in Modules) website or in an APA manual. Grading will be based on your ability to clearly summarize the major points of the required article, your insight into the topics of self-actualization and self-determination, your application of some information from the assigned article to a specific situation,and the quality of your writing.
