Read this article on the continued troop deployment to Iraq

Think back to the lecture about a the historical thread that runs through lessons learned from the increasing deployment of advisors in Vietnam and the similarity to Iraq. Although the numbers of advisors in Iraq pale in comparison to Vietnam(which approached 10,000 by 1963). It will be left to the next president on how to deal with the current deployment of troops in Iraq.

What is your view on the increasing troop deployment to Iraq after the American troop pull out in 2011. Is this a sign of U.S. engaging again in the region and risking potentially being bogged down in Iraq (similar to Vietnam) or is this a temporary measure until the Iraqi Military can retake Mosul from ISIS. What are your thoughts ?
