Most of the searches conducted by police are consent searches. These are searches where individuals give thier consent and allow police to search the person, their vehicle or their homes. This assignment will introduce to you the concept and ramifications of a consent search.

The Assignment:

Use the textbook, the internet or other sources and find some information regarding consent searches. What is a consent search? What are the relevant issues concerning consent seaches? For example, does a person have to consent to a search? Are officers required to inform a person they can refuse a search? What are the ramifications of refusing to consent to a search? Write a one to two page response paper with your answers to these questions and any additional pertinent information you believe is relevant.
