A prominent theme in early U.S. history is the quest for liberty. From 1607 through 1815, some groups of Americans gained more freedom, while other groups made no such gains or even lost some of their liberties. Write an essay in which you analyze the quest for liberty during this period, discussing who gained more liberty and who did not, supporting your analysis with specific examples from course readings only. Groups you might consider could be gender groups, ethnic groups, religious groups, socioeconomic classes, and/or states.
