Business Case Study Project

Paper details:

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:

Seek out a business entity, presumably but not strictly limited to, a local restaurant that employs between 10-50 people (no government or non-profit agencies). Once a business is selected, perform an analysis of the existing Information Systems used in the business and determine what problems exist, what recommended solutions should be made, and what it will cost (in $$$ figures). The analysis will be thorough and comprehensive.

This is a PROBLEMS – SOLUTIONS exercise. It is not to be done from the viewp01oint of a manager or a human resources person. Neither is it to be a history of the business in question, nor the industry it operates within. The issue at hand is their use of Information Systems. They may have problems in other areas which can be relevant to the study, but ONLY if the solution incorporates Information Systems. Also, not all technology equates to information systems (Eg: a newer tractor motor is technology, but not I.S.). There is no need to delve into the financial area of a business in this analysis, nor the balance sheet, or the in-depth history of the business. The area of focus is in Information Systems. Look into HOW they use (or could use) Technology to do business, not into how much business they do. The only financial information required in the report is a cost analysis of the expenses incurred and the expected results (ROI) of the recommendations in the area of Information Systems. In the final report, do not have more than one page devoted to their history, and refrain from discussion of the overall industry in which they function, unless it is to prove a point on how other businesses have benefited from having already made changes similar to the recommendations.

STEP 1:

Submit an Abstract OR a Detailed Outline (showing RESULTS, not intentions) of the Project Report. An abstract is a narrative description of the general FINDINGS of your report. It is NOT an introduction telling what you are going to do. I’m looking for results here. Outlines should be the same thing, but in a “bullet” format complete with main points and sub-points.

STEP 2:

The written report of the project will consist of a paper not less than 4 pages. (Cover Pages, Tables of Content, figures, pictures, graphs, appendixes, and bibliographies will not be counted as text).

FORMAT:

Standard double-spaced with 1 inch margins all around in length

12 point Times New Roman

References used will be in accordance with the APA Style Manual

At least eight (8) outside references cited in APA. References cannot be books or websites. Journal Articles ONLY

Assignment is submitted through SafeAssign for plagiarism check

REFERENCES:

References: Please do NOT just copy and paste the “APA” reference from what the search engine program produces. 90% of the time they will be in the wrong format because they are not using a transformation algorithm, just placeholders. Here are some examples:

Smith, J. (2012) The article title, Name of Journal, 24(11)

Name: Last names have first letter only capitalized. First names are never used, only the first initial in upper-case followed by a period. Commas between names if multiple authors.

Year: in parentheses. If more than one article by the same author in a given year, use a,b,c,etc. for each successive one.

Title: ONLY the first letter of the first word is capitalized. The only exceptions are for acronyms or proper names.

Journal name: In italics. Capitalize the first letter of first word and all major words.

Volume: In italics and JUST the number.

Number or Issue: In parentheses, just the number, and next to the volume number.

Note that page numbers are optional and if used are in the form p.123
