drug ADVERTISING
Order Description
Every day, we are exposed to a tremendous amount of information about medications. Drug advertising is so common that many patients today have already self-diagnosed their symptoms by consulting “Dr. Google” and have already selected the medication they want based on the advertising they have seen.
For this week’s forum, take note of all the drug advertising you are exposed to over a 24 hour period. You should include radio & TV commercials, magazine & internet advertisements, billboards, and any other sources you notice. Create a list of the advertised medications, the advertising source (TV, magazine, etc.), and what the advertisement states the medication is used to treat.
NOTE: For those of you who are deployed, if you do not have any examples from your environment, you may need to do an internet search on “prescription drug advertising” to find examples.
After you complete your list, select one medication to investigate in detail. Provide the drug’s brand name(s), generic name, and medical conditions the drug is used to treat. Summarize how the drug acts on the body in your own words and list the most common side effects.
NOTE: DO NOT simply copy this information from a drug reference or website or you will receive a zero for this assignment and risk being reported for plagiarism.
