PROCEDURE: the procedure is an account of the actual experimental procedure that you performed. It is written in the 3rd person passive tense. Write this section as if you were an observer. Use the manual only as a guide because sometimes the manual instructions are revised or you perform the steps in a different order, so do NOT simply copy the manual and change the tense. (You should jot down notes in your lab notebook while you are performing the experiment) Also included in this section are any observations made during the experiment.

Do NOT include actual data values, calculations, graphing instructions or results in the procedure section (they have their own section).

There should be no “if” or “when” statements, at the time you are writing the report the outcomes are known.

DATA:
attach the computer print-out from the lab computer
attach the film tracing cut-out and the square used for area determination
CALCULATIONS: there are 11 calculations listed on p. 18 in the manual, show all the equations used, show the worked out calculations with data plugged in and the final result, be sure to use labels, units and proper significant figures

DISCUSSION: regular discussion – paragraph format

*state your experimental result & the expected result – compare the values and comment

* give 3-4 specific sources of exp error and how the error could affect the result

PUT SECTIONS IN ORDER AS LISTED
WRITE IN PAST TENSE !
NO PRONOUNS !!
ATTACH THE SIGNED CARBONS TO THE END OF THE REPORT
