Text Critique II

Order Description
Purpose:

To analyse a well-known article and identify its major attributes to aid
the preparation of your e-tivity 6 essay.

Task:

This e-tivity has two parts.

First: please read the article below

Michael Cox, ‘Is the United States in Decline — Again? An Essay’ International Affairs (Royal Institute of International Affairs 1944-)
Vol. 83, No. 4 (Jul., 2007), pp. 643-653
then post a brief analysis of it (maximum 400 words) in the E-tivity 5 forum as soon as you are able.

Then proceed to the respond section.

Respond:

In the e-tivity 5 forum please post comments on the analyses provided by other students on the text, and revisit those completed for e-tivity 3 (this will allow you to further develop your initial analyses of these sources as you are more experienced students of USFP at this stage). Whether you agree or disagree , you should critically explore the claims being put forward, the assumptions (explicit or implicit) that underwrite these claims and the implications for theory and practice that emerge from the article.

Comment constructively in no more than 400 words on how comparing these interpretations have helped improved your own understanding of USFP as they relate – to whatever degree – to your chosen essay question. Particularly focus on whether these articles challenge any of the arguments you plan to develop in your essay, such as whether a different theoretical approach has been defended, or whether the article challenges some of the conclusions you draw from other reading. Then submit these to TurnItIn
