The Church has many bright people; these are people who have studied, prayed, and labored faithfully in the field. That said, it is not enough to study, pray, and be faithful with regard to preaching. One must develop a certain skill set in order to effectively communicate with one’s hearers.

UNIT OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Discuss a biblical definition of effective delivery.
2. Review the role of unction in effective delivery.
3. Analyze the 8 E’s of Effective Preaching.
4. Identify what you define as ineffective delivery.
5. Write a philosophy of effective delivery in Gospel communication.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
No doubt, you have sat and listened to some preacher and thought, “Wow…I want to preach like that someday.” Well, now is your chance to dream.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Review this week’s reading of the course text, Bible, and the Unit 7 PowerPoint.
2. In a 3-4 page Word document, address the following:
a. Ask yourself what you want to be like as an effective communicator 20 years from now, and what you to do now become that person then.
b. What characteristics do you value most in preaching, and why?
c. Who are the 2-3 people that you most admire among current preaching/preachers, and why? What have they taught you? What can you import that you have learned from them into your own preaching delivery?
d. What Gospel communicator in the Bible do you most admire, and why? Again, what is it about their preaching that you want to import into your own?
e. Along with any other insights you wish to share regarding a philosophy of effective delivery in Gospel communication.
3. Be as specific and comprehensive as possible.
