Seismic data analysis currently uses mainly 2d analytical techniques which can make the analysis of this type of data a laborious and slow task, given that the environment is actually 3d.
Heterogeneity measure of reservoir should be stated and described in terms of this project.
This project will look to implement fully 3d analytical techniques on the analysis of seismic data. The project will look to use existing techniques from other areas such as in the analysis of MRI type data and image analysis, to automatically locate and identify features of interest in the seismic data.
The output of this process can then be used as input into a 3d visualisation suite. Recent advances in the VR gaming community have resulted in a step change in the development of commodity hardware for this area and this ability to use kit like the Oculus Rift to visualise the results would be the  nal goal of this project.
