1. Reading and Argument exercise. Students will search for articles on a theme of their choice.( Forced Marriage ) They must search for at least 10 relevant articles and provide a brief synopsis of each. They must then choose the 3 they see to

you need to locate the 10 articles and review them. For each you should note what is:
The is/are the key finding(s) or what is interesting about the article
The is/are the key question(s) raised for you or what the article does not say
Reading the articles should help start to formulate your research question and also help you decide which are the (minimum of) 3 articles that you think are key to your research topic.
The assessment requires that you use a minimum of 3 articles to present a justification for your chosen research topic. That is, you should use the articles to explain the current thinking on the topic and why the topic is important and interesting to study. Your discussion should also highlight what questions remain unanswered on the topic. That is, not only say what your readings on the topic do say, but also what they do not say, or identify a ‘gap in knowledge’. This gap in knowledge will provide the basis for your research question.
The assessment should consist:
1. Clear statement of your research topic. 2. A short narrative which:
Summarises the evidence contained in at least 3 articles on the topic.
Uses the articles to construct an argument in support of why a particular aspect of the field of study needs further research.
3. Statement of a research question arising from the discussion of readings.
4. Bibliography of 10 article abstracts with a short note for each highlighting its utility to the proposed study.
