Go back to Gen 22, the story of Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac, and give two different interpretations of the story, similar to how we interpreted the story of the Garden of Eden. The story would seem to be about a “test”—but what test? There are two possibilities—one understanding of the “test” such that Abraham passes, and another such that Abraham failed.
