Evaluation of sources assignment SDGs

The purpose of this assignment is to compare and contrast media sources on a single topic. You will evaluate sources of evidence related to the WHO report: From Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

You should read the original document: WHO Report: From MDGs to SDGs – General Introduction.

Then, select two of the following reports related to the WHO Report (your choice):

– Seven reasons the SDGs will be better than the MDGs – The Guardian

– Comparing the MDGs with the SDGs – Cityscope

– From MDGs to SDGs – Botswana

– From MDGs to SDGs – Press release

– Public health and the SDGs – Huffington Post

Directions:

The WHO Report is a scholarly report that provides important information about how the development of the Millennium Development Goals, and the recent transition to Sustainable Development Goals, occurred. The other periodicals have reported from this report, highlighting different aspects of the report based on their audience.

Compare and contrast these different sources of information. Identify some of the differences in level of detail in the information provided. What information was omitted in the popular press sites? What information did those sites choose to emphasize. Did their presentation give a balanced view of the report? A good evaluation will review the tone of the articles, the information included and omitted, and how the information in the original report was translated.

This should be a two page assignment. Points will be taken off if longer (not including references).

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
