PCS systems represent the final frontier of cellular telephony and data communications. The spectrum allocated to PCS is divided into three major categories:

• Broadband: Operates in the 1850–1910 MHz and 1930–1990 MHz.
• Narrowband: Operates in the 901–902 MHz, 930–931 MHz, and 940–941 MHz bands.
• Unlicensed.
