LITERARY ANALYSIS
Introduction :
include the title and author of the work. Use correct capitalization. Summarize the work in no more than two or three sentences making sure that your summary focuses on your thesis. End introduction with thesis. Make sure your thesis argues a point of interpretation or analysis. It should include your main point and may contain several points of development.
Body paragraph :
The essay is not limited to 5 body paragraphs. Start with a topic sentence that gives the main focus of your paragraph and includes on of the points of development in your thesis. Include from the work a quote or example that supports the topic sentence. Next to a quote, indicate the page number in parenthesis. Follow your quote or example with three or more sentences of analysis that explains how or why it supports the main focus of your paragraph. Use a transition device (also, furthermore, or other). Include another example or quote. Include more analysis to back up that example. Write a concluding sentence that returns to your main focus.
Conclusion :
Sum up your main points of development using different wording than in your thesis. End with an insight.
