Choose a development-related topic and focus on one country from anywhere in the world. Using the readings and resources assigned in the development unit, develop a research question. Use the Gapminder.org data tools to research your topic for the country in question, and look for change over time. Then use the library’s research databases to locate peer-reviewed materials that can help you explain the patterns you are seeing.
Prepare an annotated bibliography for at least four sources, three of which must be peer-reviewed academic articles.
Write a 3 page, double-spaced essay that explains your research question, reviews the scholarly research on the question and presents your own findings based on data and other evidence. Finally, propose a way to improve the issue you have identified, paying attention to economic, political, environmental, social, and cultural constraints that might come up in the country you have chosen.
