Contemporary world exists in the age where any object may be considered art, which depends on the context and concept of this specific object. However, the majority of them are temporarrdy dynamic artworks that will hardly become classic. Referring to the objects above, only two of them may be considered art. These are Picasso’s Girl with a Mandolin (1910) and Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights (1504). Other objects – a toaster and a handmade musical instrument represent different areas of products.
Bosch is an outstanding artist of the Renaissance, who created his own world in his works that largely influenced further generations, especially those who represented the Surrealist movement. The Garden of Earthly Delights demonstrates the deep idea through the symbols of each image and their combinations. It provides allusions to the Bible, folklore, and Dante’s Divine Comedy. It is full of visible and invisible intertextual hints. Moreover, the triptych has a plot, sensible composition, architectonics and coloration.
Picasso’s Girl with a Mandoline refers to the later epoch, which is marked with the Modernist and Avant-Garde movements in art. The picture represents typical Cubist art. Picasso is a controversial artist. His artworks are in the range of the most expensive in the world, but many people do not consider his art that valuable. Despite that, his works are recognizable; they have a very bodacious style. However, all the principles of composition and coloration are observed and even enriched by his new vision of form. His understanding of structure of an artwork, such as geometric basis of any object, is now basic for many artists and art studies.
Talking about the musical instrument – it is a tool to produce art. There is no doubt, that a musical instrument can be a masterpiece, like Stradivari’s violins were, but they have a specific function – to produce music, which can be art. The design of this specific instrument is simple, even childish, so there is nothing in this object that could catch attention of a spectator.
A toaster is a functional object, as well. Although, many house supplies are considered art, such as Chinese ceramics or Persian carpets, this toaster is not a piece of art. It has a nice modern design, but it does not have an aesthetic value. Everything that a person can think while looking at this object is breakfast, which is a direct reference to the function of this object. It is opposite to the ancient ceramics, where not only design, but an image, techniques and paintings are the first to capture attention.
Each of these objects has a meaning, but two artworks(Girl with a Mandolin and Garden of Earthly Delights,Right wing, “Hell” ) provide aesthetic ideas and motifs, have influence on other artists, and do not have any functional aim. Even if the latter point is not essential in defining art, it plays additional role. Other two objects have a functional meaning on the first place. They cannot be considered art without a specific context. For instance, if a toaster was a part of installation in a gallery or a part of an artistic photo image, it could be considered art. The musical instrument becomes a part of art when a musician plays it and creates music, but a musical instrument itself is only an instrument.

1- The Toaster:
I believe the toaster is art because when you look at the shape, it has curve style and it seems that there is creativity compared to the normal toaster that has no design. Also the colors that has been used is great colors. the chrome gives the toaster special look . the designer chose special colors that could catch people’s eyes and impressed them by the design. Therefore, people will want more of that toaster because it has creative touches and complete different shape than the normal one. It is true that toasters are used for food purposes, even though I believe that anything has creativity or someone put effort to design anything is considered art.
2- the sculpture:
I really do co considered it art because When I first looked at the sculpture, i was impressed and amazed . Obviously it looks that it was sculptured from tree trunk, and I think that this sculpture originated from American Indian culture or Egyptian culture because it looks like it is an old design.I noticed something might has interpretation, one of the bodies has earrings (the left one) which mean male and female have involved in the sculpture. From viewing the content of this sculpture I believe the creator wants to show us two people hugging each other, showing love and passion, or it could mean that infinity love existed at certain time in this world.
3- The tattoo:
At the begging , I thought it was fake tattoo. However, it becomes clear that it is actually a real tattoo showing inappropriate hand gesture. I definitely don’t consider the tattoo image aesthetic because it does not show any kind of beauty other than inappropriate hand gesture that should not be shown to the public. However , I do consider the tattoo art because not everyone can draw hand gesture that good and precisely. Especially drawing the nails and how the fingers are bent. Off course there is no specific person who can decide whether it is aesthetic or not because it depends on the environment the person has been through. some people might consider it art and other s might not because they experienced different environments which determine different points of view.
4- The Bicycle:
I would definitely classify the bicycle art because of its unique shape. I have never seen a bicycle looks like the on in the picture. what makes this object art is the material used. I think there are three different elements: wood, iron, and plastic, combined creating unique bicycle. I really like how the creator used the wheels to express emotions. For example, in the front wheel we see a heart which obviously represents love, and on the back wheel there is a smile face. I believe that it is important to the creator to live a life filled with love and happiness. I would call this a fine art cause it shows beauty, and this object should be found in a museum because I consider it art and museums is an appropriate place where people come and see different kind of art.

The blue bowl
The particular element of the bowl is the colours used in its painting. The bowl has a white and blue shade all over. I believe the artist was trying to communicate the message of contention. This can be supported by the colour of paints he used on the bowl. Blue and white are pure colours that create a calm mood and the fact that he used the bowl despite its small size would be that we should be contented with the little we have. The artist could also be teaching us not to judge things by their appearance. Even the simplest things can be worth much. I would not have paid attention to a bowl being a piece of art before.
The painting of dancing people
The specific element of this picture is in its appearance, the contrast of the blue and green shade as well as the red. An observer can be able to tell that the piece of art is based on Africa. I believe that the artist of this piece was trying to show the Africans way of living. The dancing in the picture portrayed a ceremony celebrated by the people in the community and the role of the various individual. The artist is trying to communicate the importance of unity and affection between individuals from the positioning of figures.
The birth of Venus
I believe the artist of this piece was trying to bring out the theme of love because we can see a couple flying. It also brings out the topic of concern or care when a lady is seen trying to cover the naked lady with a piece of cloth. The artist of the piece I believe he was in love and wanted to be free since art is a product of emotions. At first, I did not notice the design of the woman’s dress and the blueprint of the man’s wings.
Standing room only
This was an interesting piece of art. Just like a sword with double edge, the book itself is art since it contains literature and the cover shows the theme of art where the figures portray the positions that are appealing to the human eye which is essential in the field of performing arts. I had overlooked the blurring of the parts of the body in the cover which probably depicts its overall simplicity.
