Requirements:
This individual self-reflection report requires you to analyze the interpersonal conflict between yourself and a service worker or retail staff that happened recently. (For example, at a restaurant, at a boutique, at a hair salon, etc.) In your report, please include (but do not limit yourself to) the following discussion: 1. Describe the interpersonal conflict between YOURSELF and a service or retail
industry employee that happened recently (20% of the length). 2. Applying relevant communication concepts learned in lectures 1 to 7 to analyze the possible cause(s) of the communication problem (40% of the length). 3. Conduct a self-reflection on your own interpersonal communication skills and explain how you could have handled and resolved the conflict and communications more effectively (40% of the length). 4. The paper should show depth of understanding & analysis, and a critical thinking towards the communication concepts you have learned during lectures, not just copying the reference materials. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited in this course. Where plagiarism is seen to occur, students will receive a zero for the whole course and will be subjected to academic disciplinary actions.
Suggestions for organizing the individual self-reflection report:
a. Introduction: What this report is about, provide a preview in sequence of the content
to follow in the paper
b. Conflict description: Brief description of the interpersonal conflict
c. Possible cause(s) of the conflict: Apply concepts learned in class to analyze the possible cause(s)
d. Self-reflections on your com m unication skills: How to handle and resolve the maladaptive communication
e. Conclusion: A conclusion can include further comments, any insights for the way forward.
f. References: Use American Psychological Association (APA), Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th Edition. Use only reliable and academic sources. For instance, Wikipedia is not a reliable and academic source since anyone can post materials on the site. Refer to university statement on cheating and plagiarism.
