Write a 3-5 page paper (12 pt. Cambria, or Times New Roman Font, typed, double spaced, one inch margins) that includes each of the following elements:

You will be required to submit one copy of your paper to the Drop box in D2L and one hard copy to your instructor. To receive full points, you must torn in printed copy of the rubric with the hard-copy of the paper that you turn in to the instructor.

For this assignment, you will be asked to analyze a popular movie, novel, or television show that demonstrates conflict among relationships. The film or novel reviewed should demonstrate either a romantic, (The Notebook) familial (Little Miss Sunshine), or friend relationship (Bridesmaids) that experiences conflict of some form. Your paper will be expected to follow proper organization patterns, including a clear introduction, a body with thoughtfully organized main points, and a conclusion.

For this paper, practice writing from a 3rd person perspective. (Without the use of “I” language”). This is more of an analysis than an opinion review.

Introduction: Should preview the paper: what book or movie will you be reviewing? Why did you choose this story to review/analyze? What points will you be discussing in your paper?

Identify/introduce the couple and the situation. What kind of romantic relationship does the couple demonstrate? Or what kind of family/family relationship is demonstrated? What kind of friendship is demonstrated? (you only have to pick 1 of these 3).

Analyze the conflict that occurs in the relationship throughout the movie/book. What type of conflict occurs? What are the power dynamics demonstrated in the relationship? How does the couple/family handle or fail to handle conflict?

What strategies could the couple/family have used to more effectively handle conflict? What strategies could the couple or families have used to better maintain their relationship?

Conclusion: Summarize the main points of the paper. End with statement the provide closure.

Aim to discuss 3-6 terms from the book in each section of your analysis.
